Privacy Policy

Welcome to Warhood! Whether you're a long-time regular member, or you're just visiting us for the first time, we value your online privacy - and, therefore, we'd like to take a quick moment to explain what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have to have your personal information updated or removed.

What personal information do we collect?

From unregistered users, the following information is collected automatically by the software: Additionally, the following information is collected from registered users: Further, any information which you choose to display publicly in your posts is collected and stored in our database. In order to assist with personal data protection, any information which makes you personally identifiable (e.g full names, full dates of birth) must not be included in usernames, and may only be posted in specific areas of the forum. For more information, please read the "Data Protection and Anonymity" section of the Board Guidelines.

How will my personal information be used?

Information from unregistered users is collected for the purposes of abuse prevention (in particular, IP addresses are collected to ensure compliance with any prior IP bans). Additionally, all traffic is routed through the CloudFlare network; this is necessary for the purposes of threat detection and mitigation (e.g. DDoS attacks), and additionally enhances website performance. This information is collected by CloudFlare for analytics purposes.

Email addresses provided by the user are used for the following purposes: Once you have validated your account, if you do not wish to receive emails for any of the above purposes, you may disable these in your User Control Panel Options.

IP addresses are collected in order to prevent abuse and ensure that members who are prohibited from registering do not do so (for example, banned members). These are collected during any visit or forum interaction (e.g. posting or sending a private message), to enable us to track the history of any IP address which is used for abusive purposes. IP addresses are used for our internal purposes only, and are not shared with the public at any time.

Any other personal information which you have chosen to shared with us is not used for any purposes, and is posted on here with your consent only. You are free to withdraw this consent at any time; for further information, please read the section titled "I want my information changed or removed. What can I do?".

Will this information be secure?

Unless otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy or specifically requested by law enforcement officials, we do not provide personal information to anybody else. In particular, as we do not have adverts on our forums, we do not provide any personal data to anybody for marketing purposes.

We make every effort to ensure that your personal information remains secure from attackers. For example, we do not store your password in our database in plain-text form; instead, these are stored in hashed form. In the event of a data breach, you will be informed of the incident as soon as possible.

What about cookies?

In common with most websites, Warhood's Forum uses cookies in order to enhance the experience for users. These are tiny text files which are stored within your browser for a set amount of time, and retrieved when you return to the site. These are not shared with anybody, nor can they be used by any other website you visit. We use these for a variety of purposes, including the following: For full information, please read the MyBB documentation on cookies.

As noted previously, we do not have any advertisements - and, therefore, we do not set or use cookies for any marketing purposes.

Note that, as part of their posts, users may embed content from external sites (for example, YouTube videos). Interacting with such content may result in external sites setting cookies of their own (known as "third-party cookies"). We are unable to control these cookies directly; however, if they are of concern to you, all major browsers offer an option to block third-party cookies (as explained in this article).

I want my information changed or removed. What can I do?

You have a number of rights to access, modify, or remove your personal information, as follows:

Is there anything else I need to know?
